ABOUT KIPPERS
Hellooooo

I’m Melanie.

Let’s get the boring, I know what I’m doing formalities out of the way first. I’ve been a paediatric nurse for over 12 years, (think kids, not feet, I promise feet are not my thing). I hold a Bachelor of Applied Science Psychology and a Bachelor of Nursing, and postgraduate qualifications in Child Development.

But more importantly – I’m MUM to three little kippers. Freddie (5), Goldie (3) and Ruey (8 months). So when I say I get it… I really, really get it.

The beautiful, the chaotic, the soul-shifting, the humbling, the all-consuming, messy, wonderful, slightly unhinged, kind of motherhood.

Here’s something that might surprise you though… Despite having three young kids, sleep deprivation hasn’t been apart of our story.

My babies have slept age-appropriately. They’re not robots (far from it), but they can all sleep - independently, in their own spaces - without compromising connection, attachment or responsiveness. And that has meant everything. More energy. More patience. More capacity to actually enjoy these early years - not just survive them.

But wow… the sleep world is louder than ever. It is Confusing. Overwhelming. Divisive. It left me unsure whether to return to sleep consulting. Parents are stuck between extremes - told that love looks a certain way, that sleep deprivation is a badge of honour, told to just ride it out or to do something that doesn’t feel right for them. So, they stay - Exhausted. Unsure. Pushing through. It does not have to feel like this.

The right sleep support is life changing.

So what kind of sleep consultant am I?

Never in my wildest pre-kid dreams (because honestly this is probably as wild as dreams get in your mid-30s) did I think I would become some sort of sleep-obsessed nutter… but here I am.
I am the kind who is all in. A passionate. Invested. Dedicated (borderline obsessive) one. I cut through the noise and give you a clear, realistic, evidence-based guidance tailored to your baby and your parenting style. If the sleep-deprived life is not your cup of tea, I’m here to unpack what’s no longer working, make a very good plan, and am in your corner, holding your hand, every step of the way.

After all my years working with families, one thing I know for sure : Every single baby is capable of sleeping well.

Because we can’t survive without sleep, your baby can’t thrive without sleep and to be completely honest - I’m just a hot mess with an unwashed mum-bun without it. So, let’s say goodbye to sleepless nights and hello to well-rested brunches, lunches and arvo wines (because let’s be honest… that’s what mat leave is really about, right 😉?).
